About TLC - Governance

To empower students to reach their full potential by providing choice in education within collaborative triads of parents, students, and school.

Although sponsored by the San Diego Unified School District, The Learning Choice Academy is an independent, direct-funded charter school. This means that decisions are made by the school’s own elected Board of Directors and gives a strong voice for parents of students attending TLC.

Local school control is strengthened through TLC’s parent group, Charter Advisory Council. This group meets on a quarterly basis and all are invited to participate during the Donuts with the Director meetings.
